Starting the dream
Maasai Volunteering Solutions (MVS) is an NGO focused on improving the quality of life for the Maasai communities of Longido. It was founded in 2020 by Daniel and Ayubu Naandi, two members of the same community, with Ayubu being a respected leader of one of the Maasai clans.
For the past 15 years, these communities have experienced the devastating effects of climate change, particularly drought, which has led to serious health issues (respiratory and eye diseases), dietary changes, and challenges in managing their livestock, which in turn impacts their economic stability.
While the Maasai have started sending their children to school and seeking jobs outside the community, their desire is to continue living according to their traditions and remain close to their land. This is why Ayubu and Daniel founded MVS—to improve both the quality of life and the environment, seeking a balanced approach between tradition and growth in the modern world. Ayubu’s experience working with international NGOs in Arusha since 2012, managing various projects with international volunteers, has been instrumental in this mission.

New member
In 2022, Loreto Rocha, a Chilean industrial engineer and founder
of the consulting firm Iberoamerican & African Solutions, joined the
team. Loreto, with extensive experience in development projects in Chile,
Ecuador, and Tanzania, has contributed her expertise in social innovation and
entrepreneurship, mobilizing groups of professionals to engage in local
development initiatives across these countries.
That same year, Ayubu and Loreto merged their efforts to advance MVS’s
projects, forming partnerships with other organizations and NGOs to exchange
knowledge and accelerate progress.
