Route of Hope: A Community Learning Center for Progress
Route of Hope is a community learning center located in Engikaret, Tanzania, dedicated to fostering local development by supporting men, women, and youth. The center’s primary mission is to provide valuable knowledge and skills to the community members in a conducive space that enables active and effective learning.
At Route of Hope, people will have a dedicated area for production as part of our entrepreneurship programs, allowing them to practice their skills and produce goods. For our demonstration pilots, we offer practical training on techniques and technologies that can be implemented in villages and shared spaces.
Additionally, the center will assist with the marketing and commercialization of the community’s entrepreneurial products. It will also offer services to tourists, creating a revenue stream to support the operations of our NGO. This initiative will generate local employment opportunities and provide a much-needed service to tourists, where they can rest, enjoy refreshments, and connect with Maasai culture.
In the future, the center will include accommodation and camping areas. For now, we are focusing on the development of training spaces, restrooms, and a small shop.
The center’s strategic location between Arusha and Nairobi, key tourism hubs in East Africa, offers a prime advantage. This route connects both countries, frequented by both Kenyan and international tourists who require services during their travels.
Route of Hope is situated on a vast plain with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and Longido. It’s also just a few kilometers from the Engikaret Maasai market, making it a perfect rest stop for coffee or a soda. You may even catch a glimpse of wildlife!
Join us in shaping a better future for the Maasai community while preserving its rich cultural heritage. Together, we can create lasting change.
